4. Our partners

We’re proud of our ongoing collaboration in precompetitive platforms and see this as an important part of our vision for the future. We know we can’t do it alone!

SeaBOS

Nutreco and Skretting continue to proactively participate in the Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship (SeaBOS). Through dialogues that took place within SeaBOS, in 2020, major milestone public commitments were made by the ten largest seafood companies in the world and committing to a set of timebound and measurable goals that will ensure the industry becomes more sustainable.

Protecting the Cerrado

Nutreco was one of the founding 23 signatories to the Cerrado Manifesto Statement of Support (SoS) group and joined its Steering Group in 2019. In September, over 160 SoS signatories, led by its Steering Group, took the unprecedented step of engaging individually with the key soy traders in Brazil to ask them to set a 2020 deforestation and conversion-free cut-off date, supported by a robust monitoring system.

AquaVision

Every two years, Nutreco and Skretting host Aquavision, the world’s premier aquaculture business conference. In 2020, our first virtual version of the conference attracted 2,300 participants, well over the historic in-person attendance of around 450. We believe as the world emerges from the COVID-19 crisis, aquaculture will be ideally placed to take a more prominent role in meeting the changing needs of consumers with a rich diversity of accessible, nutritional and sustainable proteins.

Other partnerships

We also collaborate across the feed to food chain through other multi-stakeholder partnerships including the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (Supervisory Board), Marin Trust (Technical Committee), the Collaborative Soy Initiative (Steering Group) and the European Feed Manufacturer’s Federation (Sustainability Committee).
